In case you’re not sure how to pronounce my name, it rhymes with “prestige”.
Sige is an ancient name that represents the feminine archetypes of silence and contemplation.
My name is meaningful to me because it reminds me to slow down, tune in and connect with my true nature. My name also speaks to my lifelong call to empower women to know and love themselves deeply.
I started SF Women’s Therapy because I want to empower women like you to stand up and say, “Hey, this is me! This is what I want. This is what I feel. This is what I like.” And to love your Self enough to hold on to your truth, no matter what.
THERAPEUTIC APPROACHES
I offer individual therapy for women and couples counseling at SF Women’s Therapy’s San Francisco and Berkeley offices. My approach is body-centered, relational and mindfulness-based. I believe that an “experience”, or a direct encounter with sensations, memories, images, thoughts and feelings, is a more powerful and lasting agent for change than cognitive “understanding” alone.
During our time together, I will turn our attention to your whole being, which includes not only your mind, where you weave stories and create meaning, but also your body, where you sense and feel, as well. I will also explore the relational experience that arises between us as this usually informs us of what arises within other relationships in your life.
My specialties include: Premarital and Marital Counseling, Dating and Relationships, Sex and Intimacy, Restoring Connection, Co-Dependency, Self Esteem and Empowerment, Setting Boundaries and Speaking Up, Career and Life Path, Family of Origin Issues, Anxiety, Panic Attacks and Depression.

Here are a few specific modalities that inform my approach.
AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) – Developed by Dr. Diana Fosha, AEDP aims to restore ones access to his or her full range of core emotions, like fear, anger, joy, sadness and disgust, that play a powerful role in survival and aliveness. We will identify key events that have forbid the healthy expression of these feelings and build a safe environment to overcome your unconscious strategies to resist them.
Mindfulness – is the art of bringing our attention and curiosity to your thoughts, feelings and sensations as they arise without judgment. Learning to be more mindful is a key life skill that will increase your awareness and insight in service of transformation.
Relational & Psychodynamic Psychotherapy - What happened in past relationships with important people in our lives usually finds its way into our current relationships, including the relationship between client and therapist. Together, we will use our relationship as a vehicle to notice and transform unconscious and deeply conditioned relational patterns.
EFT – Emotionally Focused Therapy - Developed by Dr. Sue Johnson, EFT is one of the most successful approaches to building loving relationships. Here, I will help you identify and shift away from dysfunctional relational patterns that have emerged between you and your partner and move towards creating a more safe and secure bond.
Hakomi - is a mindfulness based, body-oriented approach that draws from Eastern spiritual traditions and Western methodology. Together we’ll bring awareness to your body’s structures and habitual patterns in order to access unconscious core material, including the hidden core beliefs which shape your life, relationships, and self-image.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) - is a fascinating and powerful technology for healing psychological damage caused by traumatic events. It is clinically proven to treat emotional trauma that results from war, physical and sexual abuse, accidents, disasters, as well as events throughout one’s life that lead to symptoms like low self-esteem and performance anxiety. Read more about EMDR to see if it’s right for you.
Gestalt – is a phenomenological-existential therapy that focuses on what is being done, thought and felt at the moment rather than on what was, might be, could be, or should be. In addition to paying attention to what is true for you in each moment, we will also notice the many parts or voices within you and aim to grow healthy relationships between these parts through spoken dialogue.
RC-S (Recreation of the Self Model of Human Systems) – seeks to identify fragmented states of consciousness, held as neural patterns in the brain, that perpetuate both our illusory sense of wounding, and the limited behaviors that follow. I will help you transform these fragmented self-states into more complete states of consciousness that reflect your essential well being.
