Hello, I’m Rachel.

Our moments of deepest pain and discomfort also contain within them reserves of untapped power.

Psychotherapy is an active collaboration in which we really dare to take ourselves up, opening to parts of ourselves we have never known before. This is the process of liberating the heart, coming home to ourselves and reclaiming our place in the world.

I am a Depth Psychotherapist, working from a Jungian, Attachment and Somatic perspective. Psychotherapy is the art of tending to your inner landscape, listening closely below the surface, and shifting troubling patterns. As we explore your inner voices, creative impulses, bodily sensations, and dreams, we will forge a path out of psychological suffering towards more connection and aliveness.

From your most shame inducing symptoms to your greatest strengths–every part of you belongs here. Relationships shape who we are in the world and what we expect of others and ourselves. We pay close attention to your relationship tendencies as well as our relationship, because what comes up for you “out there” in your life is very likely to come up between us as well.

Profound change is possible in a therapeutic relationship based on trust. I create a warm and affirming space for people of color, the LGBTQ community, and invite explorations from all of my clients of how sociocultural identity affects our felt sense of the world.

My specialties Include: self esteem, anxiety and panic attacks, depression, trauma, relationship issues, sexuality, alcohol use, career issues, grief and loss.

Here are a few specific modalities that inform my approach.
Jungian Analytic Psychology
Developed by Swiss Psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung, this modality draws on dreamwork, archetypes, and attention to one’s inner life to catalyze the process of individuation. It is a comprehensive method for understanding the relationship between conscious and unconscious experience.

Contemporary Relational/Psychodynamic

Relationship blueprints from the past impact our current relationships and our sense of self-worth. A relational approach gives special importance to the client therapist relationship, utilizing it as an opportunity for a corrective emotional experience.

Somatic Psychotherapy
A body-sensitive approach proceeds from the understanding that past trauma will be encoded in present physiological states such as breath, gestures, muscular tension, digestive issues, and headaches.  By incorporating awareness of the body, we work with emotions at a far deeper level than insight alone.

Attachment Theory
The quality of our early relationships shapes our brains, our nervous systems, and our degree of emotional resilience.  Attachment theory looks at how we bond, find a sense of security and navigate getting our needs met in relationships. Our work in therapy will gradually help you build more secure attachments.
