Online Somatic Therapy

Somatic or Body Centered Therapy is a mindfulness based approach to healing that acknowledges that our bodies hold unconscious memories, emotions, and patterns that may not always be accessible through talk therapy alone. By bringing attention to sensations, movements, and holding patterns in our body we can we can tap into a rich source of wisdom and insight.

What happens during a somatic therapy session?

I will guide you to get comfortable, close your eyes, take a few slow, deep breaths and feel your body. Without judgement, observe thoughts, feelings and sensations. Simply, allow them to be exactly as they are without changing them.

As you slow down and tune in, what catches your attention? You many notice sensations like heat or coolness, electricity or frozenness, emptiness or numbness. You may notice certain emotions like sadness, disappointment, grief, longing, rage or excitement.

Next we will simply follow your curiosity and see what unfolds, letting your awareness guide you to reveal something new that may not have been known. Slowing down and following your awareness allows the nervous system to settle so that you can access parts of yourself that thinking and talking about can’t get to.
